Bundestag member Ahmetović supports the reform principles of civil society organizations in BiH

SARAJEVO, February 6 (FENA) – Member of the Bundestag and Rapporteur for the Western Balkans Adis Ahmetović met on Saturday with representatives of the Council of the Congress of Bosniak Intellectuals, the Croat People’s Council, the Serb Civic Council and the Forum of BiH Parliamentarians 1990, as he was presented with the activities of this civil organizations in BiH.

Ahmetović was informed about the harmonized Principles for Amendments to the Constitution of BiH, which these organizations presented to domestic and international officials, and which was supported by more than 62,000 citizens of BiH via the web application ww.izmjeneustava.com.

Ahmetović expressed full support for the presented Principles and expressed readiness to continue cooperation with citizens and these civil society organizations from BiH.

He underlined that the party he comes from, as well as their partners in Germany,  are of the firm opinion that the judgments of the UN courts, the European Court of Human Rights and the courts in BiH must be respected in Bosnia and Herzegovina because the rule of law and respect for fundamental human rights and freedom are the fundamental foundations on which every democratic European society rests.

He clearly stated his commitment that BiH has a place in the European Union and that he will provide all kinds of assistance and support to state institutions and civil society organizations as long as that is the commitment of the majority of citizens in BiH.

The organizations asked Ahmetović to present Principe to his colleagues and partners in the Bundestag, explaining that these organizations demand nothing more than respect for the human rights and freedoms of all BiH citizens and all peoples and national minorities throughout BiH, said the Congress of Bosniak Intellectuals.
