PODGORICA, November 28 (FENA) – The main problem in Bosnia and Herzegovina now is that there is not enough readiness of those tasked by the international community to take care of BiH, said member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Šefik Džaferović.
As a participant in the Balkan Integration Forum held in Podgorica yesterday, Džaferović said that BiH is experiencing a severe crisis today, and the most difficult aspect of that crisis is blocking the work of state institutions while at the same time there are no domestic mechanisms to unblock processes.
“It’s abused now. Demands are being made instead of being fully committed to unblocking the work of BiH institutions. There are some in the international community who would like to negotiate and discuss the demands of those who cause blockades,” Džaferović added.
For him, that is a problem, and he emphasizes that it is necessary to return to the institutions of the state if the intention is to respect the Dayton Peace Agreement, but everything that is written in it because that means respect for the state of BiH.
He notes that it is not good to negotiate the content of decisions of the Constitutional Court of BiH or the content of amendments to the Criminal Code which prohibits denial of genocide and glorification of war criminals, and that it is not good to negotiate decisions of the European Court of Human Rights.
“That should be the right attitude of the international community towards BiH,” Džaferović concluded, adding that if that happens, the crisis could be resolved very soon.
The Chairman of the Presidency of BiH, Željko Komšić, also participated in the Balkan Integration Forum, emphasizing that the conversation between domestic politicians is important for the solution and end of the crisis in BiH.
For him, the problem is when an absurd thing is sought, such as allocating state property to the entities because the BiH Constitutional Court has clearly stated whose property it is – the property of the state of BiH.
He says it is extremely important for domestic institutions to start doing their job in state institutions and through parliamentary procedure when it comes to amending any law or violating the constitutional system.
Chairman and member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Željko Komšić and Šefik Džaferović participated in the Balkan Integration Forum 2021, dedicated to the enlargement of the European Union to the Western Balkans, in a panel on “The Power of Perspective: Why EU Membership is Still Important in the Western Balkans”.
