SARAJEVO, December 13 (FENA) – The EU Delegation in BiH handed over the keys to five new Ford SUVs to representatives of the BiH Border Police on Friday, which represents a donation worth 124,200 euros.
On behalf of the Delegation of the European Union, Nicolas Bizel, Head of Operations Section I (Justice and Home Affairs, Public Administration Reform), handed over the keys to Deputy Director of the BiH Border Police, Fahrudin Halač, the BiH Border Police said.
“These vehicles will greatly help to increase the capacity of Border Police officers who are facing the challenges of the migrant crisis,” Halač said.
The European Union has so far provided a total of 36 million euros in grants for support to Bosnia and Herzegovina in the area of migration and border management in the context of the increased number of migrants and refugees present in the country since the end of 2017.
The assistance provided so far by EU funds to the BiH Border Police includes a minibus donated in February this year, as well as capacity building through financing the accommodation of police officers and the payment of fuel for vehicles used by police officers in the regular exercise of their activities.
