BAKU, Nov 6 (FENA) – The United States National Foreign Policy Committee Chair Susan Elliott is very encouraged by the fact that US President Joe Biden and Secretary of State Antony Blinken have chosen people like Matthew Palmer and Jim O’Brian who know the Western Balkans region, as is the case with President Biden himself.
“This is a very encouraging sign,” she told reporters after she was one of the speakers at the panel dedicated to the Western Balkans within the 8th Global Baku Forum,” FENA reports from Baku.
Although the panel expressed pessimism about the region’s European perspective, Elliott said all leaders agreed that it was important for the Western Balkans to be integrated into Europe and transatlantic relations.
“I think that it is not only on those countries but also on the members of the European Union and the United States to work together to help the countries of the Western Balkans to become members of the EU and the transatlantic alliance,” she concluded.
