It was reacting to remarks by EU spokesman in Jerusalem Shadi Othman in which he said that the EU considers Jerusalem as occupied territory and that there is a consensus among its member states of not moving their offices to Jerusalem.
“The State of Palestine wishes to express its gratitude to this European stance which goes in line with international resolutions and contributes to stability and peace in the region,” said the ministry.
It however warned against an attempt by Hungary, an EU member state, to go against the European consensus with its decision to open a commercial office in Jerusalem with diplomatic status, which it said “violates the European consensus and international resolutions, particularly Security Council resolution 478.”
