Palestinian  presidency condemns Israeli escalation at Al-Aqsa Mosque

JERUSALEM, March 12, 2019 (FENA/WAFA) – The Palestinian presidency condemned today Israeli escalation at Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem, Islam’s third holiest site, warning of grave consequences for its action against Palestinians and worshippers in the city and inside Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, particularly the attacks by police against women and men inside the Dome of the Rock.

It called on the international community to intervene to put a stop to the Israeli escalation and violations of the sanctity of the Muslim holy site that provoke the feelings of millions of Muslims around the world, mentioning in specific the desecration by an Israeli police officer of Bab al-Rahma prayer area when he entered it with his shoes on and walked over the prayer rugs.

It said President Mahmoud Abbas is contacting all parties, particularly Jordan, to get Israel to stop this escalation.

Israeli police raided this afternoon Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, assaulted all worshippers before forcing them to leave the compound and close all its gates.
