SARAJEVO, September 7 (FENA) – In the period January-July 2021, there were 460,653 tourist visits in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is 76.9 percent more and they had 1,093,239 overnight stays, which is 70.4 percent more than for the same period in 2020.
To compare the results achieved so far by the arrival and overnight stays of tourists this year, which are directly related to the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic, which first appeared in late December 2019 in the Chinese city of Wuhan, and in BiH the first cases were registered in March 2020, in the period January – July 2019, the year before the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, tourists in Bosnia and Herzegovina had 906,788 visits, and 1,878,023 overnight stays.
According to these figures, in the first seven months of this year, BiH reached the number of visits of 50.8 percent compared to the same period in the year before the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, while the number of overnight stays was 58.2 percent compared to the same period last year before the onset of the pandemic.
The number of overnight stays of domestic tourists in the first seven months of this year was higher by 76.4 percent, while the number of overnight stays of foreign tourists was higher by 64.2 percent compared to the same period in 2020.
In the structure of overnight stays of foreign tourists, most overnight stays were realized by tourists from Serbia (20.8 percent), the United Arab Emirates (16.5 percent), Croatia (10.2 percent), Saudi Arabia (7.1 percent), Germany (4,3 percent), Montenegro (3.4 percent), Kuwait (3.3 percent), Slovenia (3.2%) and Turkey (3.0 percent), for a total of 71.8 percent. Tourists from other countries realized a total of 28.2 percent of overnight stays, stated the BiH Agency for Statistics.
