Djuliman: Illegal landfills and irresponsible citizens cause pollution on Bunica

MOSTAR, October 20 (FENA) – As part of the Eco HUB Blagaj project, coordinated by the New Wave Youth Club, a cleaning action of the Bunica Recreation and Sports Center was organized with the Blagaj local community on Tuesday.

Partner organizations, i.e. members of eco-associations from Blagaj, are participating in the cleaning action, as well as members of the Bunica boating team and other associations, informal groups and citizens.

According to the president of the New Wave Association, Adnan Djuliman, the goal of the HUB project is to animate the citizens of local communities about the importance of nature and environmental protection in general.

“The problem is created by a large number of small illegal landfills, lack of a general culture of citizens, improper disposal of garbage and its inadequate removal, a lot of garbage in the Bunica River, and garbage on local and highways thrown by drivers from their vehicles,” said Djuliman.

According to him, in just three months a year, members of eco-associations collect 400 to 500 bags of garbage along the banks of the Buna River.

At the same time, he called on citizens to take their waste with them and thus contribute to a more beautiful environment.

The Eco HUB Blagaj project, coordinated by the New Wave Blagaj Youth Club, was launched as part of the “Think Nature!” project that is implemented by the Center for Promotion of Civil Society and financially supported by the Government of Sweden.

Bunica has long been a favorite beach in the Mostar area and has long been in a poor and neglected condition.
