SARAJEVO, October 16 (FENA) – The annual campaign “Let’s Do It – a million seedlings in one day” was successfully realized this year as well.
On Saturday, volunteers planted more than 2,000 seedlings of various tree species in Sarajevo, Tuzla, Bijeljina, Doboj Istok, Brčko and Bosanska Krupa as part of the “Let’s Help Nature” campaign.
“Today, we planted different types of trees depending on the location, and in Sarajevo, during the ecological afforestation of the Bjelašnica mountain, 1,000 white pine seedlings were planted.
In Bosanska Krupa and Doboj Istok, we afforested spruce and white pine seedlings, and in Tuzla, Bijeljina and Brčko, birch, chestnut, dogwood, walnut and spruce seedlings were planted in urban areas, said the activists of the Let’s Do It Project.
According to them, autumn is the right time to plant trees, because the soil is still warm, so the plants have enough time to form roots before winter, and these are great opportunities for these seedlings to become firm shoots next year.
“The natural resources of our country are our greatest potential and we are proud that we have made our contribution to nature in Bosnia and Herzegovina once again,” added the representatives of the “Let’s Do It” Project.
