Muzur: Sarajevo’s accommodation capacities filled at about 90 percent

SARAJEVO, August 4 (FENA) – The Sarajevo Canton Tourism Board Chairman Nermin Muzur stated today that August will be a record month in terms of foreign guests and will exceed last year’s figure when about 75,000 tourists visited Sarajevo.

He pointed out that about 90 percent of the accommodation capacity was filled in the municipalities of Center and Stari Grad, while in other parts of the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina the percentage was slightly smaller.

Muzur explained that tourists mostly visit Sarajevo in August and he is sure that in the next 15 days, until the beginning of the Sarajevo Film Festival (SFF), all accommodation capacities would be filled to full capacity.

“This year, the SFF has more than 30 percent more participants, and the great interest of tourists also comes because of the arrival of world-known artist, DJ Solomun,” said Muzur, adding that the Women’s Champions League Qualifying Tournament will be held in August, which is also a very good thing for the promotion of tourism capacities of Sarajevo.

He stressed that before the start of each summer season, they talk to embassy representatives about the experiences of their tourists in Sarajevo in order to act preventively. According to information they obtained so far, apart from pickpocketing, minor inconveniences in public transport or begging are also noticed, with which all world capitals are struggling, but otherwise, we have had no major problems.

Muzur pointed out that about 90 percent of the accommodation capacities have already been filled in the municipalities of Centar and Stari Grad, while in other parts of the capital, the percentage is slightly smaller.

As one of the problems, he stated that at one point, Sarajevo’s accommodation capacities will not be able to service all the tourists, whose number increases each year, and that it is necessary to increase the infrastructure capacities and associated facilities and content.
