Nearly 180,000 tourists in BiH in June this year; increase of 24.6 percent

SARAJEVO, August 7 (FENA) – In June 2019, there were 179,103 tourists in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is up by 17.3 percent compared to May 2019, and 24.6 percent compared to June 2018.

There were 349,594 overnight stays registered in June this year, which is up by 22 percent compared to May 2019, and 22.6 percent more compared to June 2018.

Domestic tourists accounted for 29.7 percent of all overnight stays, while foreign tourists accounted for 70.3 percent.

The number of overnight stays of domestic tourists increased by 31.2 percent compared to May 2019 and increased by 23.4 percent compared to June 2018.

The number of overnight stays by foreign tourists was up by18.6 percent compared to May 2019, and 22.2 percent more compared to June 2018.

In June 2019, there was a total of 18,213 rooms and apartments available to tourists in hotels and similar accommodation, which is 4.2 percent more than in June 2018, and 37,547 beds, which is 6.4 percent more compared to the same month of the previous year.

The net occupancy rate for beds in June 2019 was 27.6 percent. By the type of accommodation facility, the highest number of overnight stays was recorded in hotels and similar accommodation with a share of 91.7 percent.
