Sarajevo City Hall gets new illumination on the anniversary of its wartime destruction

SARAJEVO, August 25 (FENA) – Sarajevo City Hall gets new illumination! One of Sarajevo’s most recognizable and significant buildings, on the 27th anniversary of the barbaric shelling and burning down, has gotten a new illumination concept in accordance with the world’s best standards.

The Sarajevo City Hall is attracting a record number of visitors this year, and now it will look even more magical at night.

On that occasion, an evening of remembrance “City Hall out of Spite” was held at Inat kuća (Spite House) at the Šeher-Ćehaja’s Bridge, hosted by Sarajevo Mayor Abdulah Skaka and the leadership of the Sarajevo public holding. A number of officials, public figures and friends of Sarajevo attended the festive lighting of the new illumination.

The illumination project is work of the best BiH experts Srđa Hrisafović and Jasmina Memić, and the City of Sarajevo is an investor through its public company.

“It seemed to me that it was not possible to make the City Hall more beautiful than it already is. But now with the new illumination, the City Hall looks magical, and it is clear that this investment was worth the effort. The City Hall is the treasure of the City of Sarajevo, a national monument, and now it is becoming an institution that justifies every investment. Our special desire was to present this project on a day of remembrance when war criminals wanted to destroy our history and our identity,” said Mayor Skaka.

The City Hall in Sarajevo is one of the most beautiful buildings built during the Austro-Hungarian period in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
