SARAJEVO, September 20 (FENA) – The Association of European Cultural Institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina EUNIC BiH and the European Union Info Center in BiH are celebrating September 26 – European Day of Languages.
Throughout Europe, 800 million Europeans are represented in the Council of Europe’s 47 member states and all are encouraged to discover more languages at any age, as part of or alongside their studies.
This stems from the Council of Europe’s conviction that linguistic diversity is a tool for achieving greater intercultural understanding and a key element in the rich cultural heritage of our continent.
Therefore, the Council of Europe, in Strasbourg, promotes plurilingualism in the whole of Europe.
At the Council of Europe’s initiative, the European Day of Languages has been celebrated every year since 2001 on 26 September – together with the European Commission.
European Day of Languages will be marked throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina with numerous online events for students, professors, teachers and all those who love languages.
An online quiz ‘Learn Languages’ for all BiH citizens will be organized from September 21 to 26, available at upoznajtejezike.euinfo.ba
On Thursday, September 24, European languages’ classes will be organized by the Goethe Institute, the Austrian Institute, the Italian Dialogue Center and the Dante Alighieri Association, the French Institute and the Spanish Embassy in BiH.
Web conference for foreign language teachers and professors ‘How to teach foreign languages online?’, in cooperation with the Embassy of Italy in BiH, the Austrian Institute, the Goethe Institute and the French Institute in BiH, will be held on September 25, the EU Info Center announced.
